DAUM
Sophie
Le Tanneur
Daum
is a crystal studio based in Nancy, France, founded
in 1878 by Jean Daum[1] (1825–1885). His sons,
Auguste Daum (1853–1909) and Antonin Daum (1864–1931),
oversaw its growth during the burgeoning Art Nouveau
period. Currently Daum is the only commercial
crystal manufacturer employing the pâte de verre
(glass paste) process for art glass and crystal
sculptures, a technique in which crushed glass
is packed into a refractory mould and then fused
in a kiln.[2] During the Universal Exhibition
of 1900 Daum was awarded a ‘Grand Prix’ medal.
Daum glass became more elaborate, acid etching
(by Jacques Gruber) was often combined with carving,
enamelling and engraving on a single piece of
glass to produce creative glass master-pieces.[citation
needed] The most complicated creations also feature
applied glass elements, such as handles and ornamental
motifs in naturalistic forms. The Daum brothers
quickly moved on to become one of the major forces
in the Art Nouveau movement, seriously rivalling
Gallé, so much so that when Émile Gallé died in
1904 they became the leaders in the field of decorative
glass. In 1906 Daum revived pâte de verre (glass
paste), an ancient Egyptian method of glass casting,
developing the method so that by the 1930s Daum's
window panels used pâte de verre for richness
instead of leaded or painted glass. Today Daum
still used this method to produce their pieces.

coming to prominence as an antiques dealer, Axel
Vervoordt is now a highly influential interior
designer as well. The subtle rooms that are his
claim to fame—spartan to some eyes but warmed
by smooth plaster walls, hearty linen, and aged

to his appreciation of Japanese Zen restraint.
Vervoordt also produces a private-label collection
that includes overscale slipcovered sofas and
a chic slate-top table—the latter sparked by furniture
depicted in Egyptian tomb paintings.

Laurence
Malstaff
The
“Nemo Observatory” is captivating in a way that
is simultaneously disconcerting and hypnotic.
Lawrence Malstaf (Belgium) utilizes five fans
and a walk-though PVC cylinder to create a localized
cyclone. Thousands of bits of polystyrene fly
about through the air, with the observer situated
right in the middle of it all—literally in the
eye of the storm. Regardless of whether he/she
focuses on particles whirling all about or looks
past the flurry of material off into the distance,
the tempestuous circumstances seem to exert an
extraordinarily calming effect. This high-energy
spectacle suddenly becomes a uniform, almost spellbinding
sensory impression. With his “Nemo Observatory,”
Lawrence Malstaf has succeeded in producing a
high-impact allegory—an apt symbolic representation
of our ever-more-rapidly changing world and our
attempt to maintain our composure amidst the storm.
The Golden Nica in INTERACTIVE ART goes to “Nemo
Observatory.”

Philippe Boven. ARNOLD & SON
The biography of inventive genius and British master watchmaker John Arnold and the history of the namesake watch company he founded in 1764 is well documented. After he presented a hand-made Minute Repeater watch as a gift to the then Monarch, King George III, he gained access to circles of wealthy people. After he won the ‘Longitude Act’ competition to find a reliable method for determining the longitude on the high seas, the company specialized in the manufacture of specialized marine chronometers in the 1770s. Arnold chronometers, also officially supplied to the British Navy, accompanied numerous famous British explorers including Captain James Cook, who discovered Australia among other places; Dr. Stanley Livingstone, who adventured through the African continent and George Vancouver, who founded the Western Canadian city bearing his name.

Koopman Rare Art grew from the 1993 merger of E & C.T. Koopman & Son and Rare Art London. Historically, we have put together some of the most prestigious antique silver collections of the last sixty years. Most famously the Al Tajir Collection, the Packer Collection and the A.H. Whiteley Trust Collection, to name a few. We have also been working side by side and supplying many museums worldwide. These include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Victoria & Albert Museum, London; The Indianapolis Museum of Art; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Art Gallery of South Australia; the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology, Oxford; the Royal College of Physicians; and the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, amongst others. The company is well-known for holding one of London's largest stocks of top quality English silver . Of particular note would be the work of Robert Garrard , Paul Storr , and Paul De Lamerie , but this is far from the limit of our specialisation. In 2005 we held a unique exhibition on Rundell Bridge and Rundell. Following on from this success we held an exhibition in 2010 called "The Classical Ideal". Both of these events were combined with a charitable event to help firstly The Princes Trust and then The Sir John Soane's Museum.
Patrick Matthiesen
Old Master and 19th-century paintings The Matthiesen Gallery was founded in 1978 by Patrick Matthiesen, son of renowned Berlin and London dealer Francis Matthiesen, who had arranged the sale of pictures on behalf of The Hermitage. Now entering it fourth decade, this purpose-built gallery in the heart of St. James’s, has built an established and formidable reputation as a leading international dealer in important Italian, French and Spanish artworks, dating from the 14th Century up to and including many of the major nineteenth century schools. Beginning in 1981 with their exhibition Important Italian Baroque Paintings 1600-1700, the Matthiesen Gallery established its continuing commitment to mounting exhibitions accompanied by scholarly catalogues which not only fostered art historical discussion, but also in some cases, introduced new areas of connoisseurship and collection to the London and international markets. Other major exhibitions of Italian art include Early Italian Paintings 1300-1480 (1983); From Borso to Cesare d’Este 1450-1628 (1984), an extraordinary show of Ferrarese painting, which was presented with the co-operation of the Italian Government; and other dedicated exhibitions of later baroque paintings (1985 and 1986), Emilian paintings (1987), and rococo and early neo-classical paintings of the settecento (1987). Later, in 1996, the gallery mounted a landmark exhibition of Italian primitives, Gold Backs 1250-1480. This exhibition, which effectively introduced the study and connoisseurship of these rare works to the London market, was accompanied by a fully illustrated hardback catalogue written by several of the most renowned authorities in this field. To mark the turn of the millennium, in 2001 the gallery released a major catalogue of Italian art covering the period 1500-1720, which included the discovery of a painting attributed to the young Raphael. The following year the gallery published a newly discovered Andrea del Sarto. The gallery has also published other dedicated studies on Polidoro da Caravaggio, Jacobello del Fiore, Gaspare Vanvitelli, Francesco del Cairo, Niccolo Ranieri, and a rare and intact suite of important Florentine baroque paintings depicting The Four Seasons. The gallery’s commitment to French art has resulted in several successful exhibitions mounted in conjunction with the former Stair Sainty Matthiesen Gallery in New York, including Romance and Chivalry, an exhibition of ‘troubadour’ paintings (1997) and a survey of French landscape painting, The Gallic Prospect (1999). The gallery’s other dedicated studies of French painting include works on Jean-Baptiste Chardin, Jean-Victor Bertin (2004) and Jacques Blanchard (2008), the last two being at the time the first English language studies of these artists as well as an exhibition of French Painting 1789 - 1848 . Also in 2004 the gallery organised the exhibition Plein-air painting in Europe 1780-1850, a travelling exhibition of over 100 works of art, which was shown at the Shizuoka Prefectural Museum, Japan, The National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia and was accompanied by a catalogue including contributions from some of the most recognised curators and collectors in this field. In 1996, the gallery launched An Eye on Nature: Spanish Still Life Painting, which included masterworks by Luis Meléndez, Tomás Hiepes, Juan Sánchez Cotán, and Francisco de Zurbarán. Many of these works and indeed, this genre of painting had not been seen outside of Spain prior to the landmark exhibitions at the Kimball Museum, Fort Worth and the National Gallery in London. In the autumn of 2009 the Matthiesen Gallery continued its involvement in Spanish art with our exhibition The Mystery of Faith: An Eye on Spanish Sculpture 1550-1750 organised in association with Coll & Cortes, Madrid, the exhibition ran concurrently with the National Gallery’s ground-breaking show, The Sacred Made Real, Spanish Painting and Sculpture 1600-1700. In 2010 the gallery issued a catalogue on James Ward entitled The Lioness and a Heron.

Sharon Wauchob [PARIS]
Sharon Wauchob was born in 1971 in Newtownstewart in County Tyrone, Ireland. She moved to London and studied at Central St. Martins Fashion College, graduating in 1995. Japanese designer Koji Tatsuno saw her graduation show and invited her to work with him in Paris, which she did. After that she worked briefly for the house of Louis Vuitton. In 1998, Sharon decided to launch her own label under her won name specializing in “alternative” fashion. She set up her studio in Paris. She shows her collections twice yearly during the Paris Fashion Week. In addition to her own creations, she also works with other companies. In August 2003 she landed a contract with the 70 year old house of Bruno Magli to design shoes, handbags, belts and accessories. She also works with companies in Northern Ireland to develop original fabrics and designs.
Chef Michel Rostang Michel Rostang [Paris] 2 Michelin Stars
Michel Rostang is one of Paris's most creative chefs, the fifth generation of a distinguished French "cooking family." His restaurant contains four dining rooms paneled in mahogany, cherrywood, or pearwood; some have frosted Lalique crystal panels. Changing every 2 months, the menu offers modern improvements on cuisine bourgeoise. Truffles are the dish of choice in midwinter, and you'll find racks of suckling lamb from the salt marshes of France's western coast in spring; in game season, look for pheasant and venison. Year-round staples are quail eggs with sea urchins; fricassee of sole; quenelles of whitefish with a lobster sauce; canard au sang (duck prepared in a duck press with a sauce of red wine, foie gras, and its own blood); and Bresse chicken with mushroom purée and a salad composed of the chicken's thighs.
SOPHIE ALBOU
Fashion scholar Sophie Albou first got her stylish feet wet at France's Fashion Institute. She followed her graduation with an appointment at Azzedine Alaia and then became a stylist for Le Garage. In 1995 Albou launched her first menswear collection, under the name "Paul and Joe" - a shout out to her two young sons. Two years later the designer released a womenswear line under the same moniker, to critical acclaim.
BERNARD DULON Bernard Dulon
African Art . After a master in ethnology at Paris VII university rather than doing fieldwork Bernard Dulon decides to follow his passion for objects, inherited from his father -a great collector; he opens his first gallery in Saint Germain des Prés where the primitive art trade is already blooming when he is only 24. After moving several times for a larger space, he finally settles at his present address, 10 rue Jacques Callot. His ever growing knowledge buttressed by a permanently enriched reference library added to his deep sense of the object rapidly enable him to join the very exclusive club of the great primitive art dealers and to gain their respect and confidence. In 1985 he becomes a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts, he is also a member of the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, and in 1988 he is appointed assessor of the Commission de Conciliation et d’Expertise Douanière. He is regularly called in for several prestigious auction sales (Bellier, Berjonneau, Bégué…) and a member of the expertise commission of the main shows but he does not limit his activity to what he would consider a confinement.
KENZO
Kenzo's success started in 1970: during this year he presented his first show at the Vivienne Gallery; his first store, "Jungle Jap" was opened; and one of his models appeared in the cover of ELLE.[1] His collection was presented in New York and Tokyo in 1971. The next year, he won the Fashion Editor Club of Japan's prize. Kenzo proved his sense of dramatic appearance when, in 1978 and 1979, he held his shows in a circus tent, finishing with horsewomen performers wearing transparent uniforms and he himself riding an elephant.
Franck Prazan
Ecole de Paris from the 50´s
Since its creation, Applicat´s vocation has always been to exhibit and support the Paris School of the 50s and more especially the Abstract, Cobra and Surrealist movements. Due to its action outside the Parisian gallery, it has contributed towards reviving unquestionably new ideas, but that the last two decades had unfortunately forgotten. Today, that period of the history of Art has rightfully found its place: an essential place. Bernard Prazan, an art-collector of long standing, founded his first gallery in 1989. Specialized since its inception in top quality paintings by the principal Artists of the Post-War School of Paris, Applicat-Prazan settled down in 1993 at 16 rue de Seine, on the Left Bank in Paris in the very heart of the art gallery district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The end of 2010 saw the opening of a second address on the Right Bank at 14 avenue Matignon. Since 2004 Franck Prazan has been running the gallery: Before succeeding his Father, he was formerly Managing Director of Christie’s in France. As such, he oversaw its development from a simple representative office to a fully fledged auction house, moving the company to the Avenue Matignon in Paris.."

Isabell de Hillerin - Berlin
The German designer Isabell de Hillerin founded her own fashion label in Berlin 2009, after finishing her fashion design studies at the ‘Felicidad Duce’ in Barcelona. Her design ideas sensitively reflect a personal interpretation of contemporary and sustainable fashion. The combination of clean, innovative cuts and folkloric handmade Romanian and Moldovan materials transmit a position between new design and old tradition. ‘isabell de hillerin’ stands for elegance, structured cuts and details which remind of an old tradition. In recent years the ancient fabrics industry in Romania and Moldovan has been driven to near extinction. To strengthen this traditional artisan industry, her label works with local manufacturers to support the production of handmade materials. Her aim is to push these highly skilled craftsmen by publicising and utilising their cultural skills in a way that hasn´t been done before."
Michael Hoffmann Restaurant Margaux* [Berlin]
At Margaux, his own restaurant right in the centre of Berlin , Michael Hoffmann makes vegetables the stars of his dishes and uses his expert knowledge of ingredients to create exceptional cuisine. Hoffmann works with extreme precision and in a reductive style to create exact flavours. For his aubergine with coriander and Jerusalem artichoke, the aubergine is candied for several weeks then caramelised in olive oil, which produces a kind of dried fruit that unleashes totally new flavours in combination with the smoked Jerusalem artichoke purée, crispy salad stalks and a coriander emulsion. The seasonal vegetable platter, served with an intense vegetable bouillon, has become his signature dish. Cooking all the vegetables individually brings out each of their characters in a wonderful way, allowing their separate flavours to shine through and to combine together to capture the essence of the season.

BACKGROUND: “I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer aged 8 and I started cutting and making clothes from around age 12. My initial learning was at school in the Fashion and Textiles class where I learned some basics of pattern cutting and assembly. Then my own fascination for cut, form and drape led me to develop my own blocks and cutting techniques which have been the basis of my work. It was always my dream to be a designer with my own label and I therefore started my own business when I was 18. I was so determined and focused I didn't even consider the value working for another designer would bring.” SIGNATURES: “Contemporary, versatile pieces that make women feel amazing. through the reassignment of materials. How can
one be innovative with a material that has already
been worked for many centuries? By using techniques
on this material generally applied to other materials.
Here, the working of the leather is inspired by
wood. The leather is carved, bent, compacted…
The transfer perpetuates the illusion, the leather
becomes solid, it is worked in depth and in colour

- MILAN
Faraone - Mr Cesare Settepass
Exclusive, excellence and royalty
are the key words of Faraone Jewelry, a company
born from the ashes of the Second World War, in
1945 in Via Montenapoleone in Milan. Keeper of
an Italian tradition that evokes the richness
of fine jewelry, Raffaele Faraone's founder, has
established itself on the international scene,
offering to its customers as the "family jeweler":
the only one able to keep secrets and values,
to interpret dreams and create precious works
of art to measure. The distinctive features of
the house Faraone, were initially very close to
the Milanese style of the 60s, which boasted functional
elegance, never sought a preciousness opulent
and ostentatious. Also in those days Pharaoh establishes
a deep relation with the family Settepassi, Florentine
jewelers for four hundred years, thus increasing
the know-how of a goldsmith tradition old centuries.
After his untimely death was in fact one of a
family Settepassi member, Guido, to take the reins
of the house Faraone finally throwing in the international
arena adorning the aristocracy and the stars with
sumptuous jewels hundred percent Italian.
Chef Carlo Cracco CRACCO [Milan] 2
Michelin Stars
Carlo Cracco is often credited – and
occasionally derided – as being the ringleader
of a small but important group of Italian chefs
attempting to break away from the constraints
of cooking 'traditional' food. At his eponymous
Milan restaurant he creates challenging cuisine
that has won him considerable acclaim from the
major Italian guides and two stars from Michelin.
If you're not a fan of sea urchins, snails and
slugs, though, it may be one to swerve."

DILMOS Sergio Riva Dilmos was founded
in 1980 as an exhibition space for designer furniture.
The articles selected were intended to be the
most representative examples of modern design,
side by side with furniture made by firms representing
the contemporary style of the eighties. There
was also an area for holding exhibitions and the
result was that Dilmos started interacting more
directly with the world of design, personally
choosing which designers to work with and their
articles. This commitment was the fruit of a growing
awareness of the value and poetical significance
of objects: a profound interest that led Dilmos
to deal essentially with articles distinguished
by a strong communicative and narrative force.
Since 1985, when an exhibition dedicated to Alessandro
Mendini was held, Dilmos has increasingly tended
to choose designers and articles that fully express
a philosophy where each piece of furniture is
a representation and at the same time a key to
the designerÌs deeper thoughts, a way of communicating
and interacting with the world. Hence an object
that communicates and not merely functional but
not just a symbolic object-subject, a mute emblem
of our hyper-communicating society either: this
is the aim of DilmosÌs research, which is constantly
working, debating and striving to outdo itself.
No uniform stylistic design can be seen in the
articles found at Dilmos; the consistency cannot
be seen in the designers whose work has been displayed
over these years but rather in the interactions
and the mutual desire to treat the articles animating
a home or a space as elements that virtually receive
its thoughts and, through their great narrative
ability, transmit its poetry and intentions. The
languages of the designers are therefore many,
because the gestures and thoughts of each one
are many, but that does not mean that they are
incommunicable. This is the thinking behind some
of Dilmos Ìs experiences while working to make
it possible for languages and poetries to communicate
with each other.
Dante Del Vecchio VISCONTI
Visconti is an Italian manufacturer
of fine fountain pens, ball pens, and rollerball
pens. The company was founded in 1988 in Florence
by Dante Del Vecchio and Luigi Poli, collectors
of fountain pens for many years. Their products
represented the rediscovery and relaunch of celluloid
as material for fountain pens. In 2009, Visconti
reached a deal with Coles of London (actually
based in Florida), whereby Coles became the official
distributor of Visconti products in the United
States. Together, they have recently launched
a range of new products, including the Rembrandt
Collection, Divina Royale range, and the limited-edition

Maurizio Galante - Paris
Maurizio Galante Haute Couture celebrates
a body of work that covers over 25 years of the
Paris-based Italian / French couturier's career.
Galante is one of the world's most respected haute
couture fashion designers, having won numerous
awards, and in 2009 was appointed Chevalier de
l'Ordre des Arts et desLettres by the French Minister
of Culture. The house of Maurizio Galante Haute
Couture joined the French ‘Chambre Syndicale de
la Haute Couture’ as a Membre Invitée in 1992,
and was made a permanent member of this very closed
circle in 2008. Maurizio Galante's distinctive
language is particularly valuable in today’s Haute
Couture. Galante, who studied architecture prior
to opting for fashion, perceives his garments
as objects, with a flexible, fluid structure.
Maurizio Galante’s Haute Couture creations are
realized with profound respect for traditional
craftsmanship, poetically combining an architect's
in-depth knowledge with the fine workmanship of
the French Haute Couture atelier, and the impeccable
finish of Italian manufacturing. They are worn
by a select clientele of influential women all
over the world, and are included in the collections
of the most important international museums.

Jewellery Theatre [Moscow] Maxim Voznesensky
Jewelry Theatre was established in Moscow in
1998. Everything started from an unexposed jewelry
studio and after eleven years the company has
indeed turned into an internationally rated trademark.
However, to achieve this you will need a team
of like-minded persons – partners and employees,
who would live the life of your brand 25 hours
day and night. I was lucky since I always had
such people around. Currently, our jewelry house
has two brands. One of them, Jewelry Theatre,
represents 12 permanent jewelry collections, while
the other, Maxim Voznesensky, is a sort of emperor
lodge of our “theatre” and offers exclusive pieces
in single copies only.

PARIS - Anne-Valerie Hash, Chef Helene Darroze,
Artist S.H. Raza, Coco Chanels's girlfriend
Mahlia Kent.
Anne-Valerie Hash [PARIS]
Hash graduated from the chambre Syndicale dela Couture Parisienne in 1992. Design gigs at Nina Ricci, Chloé, and Chanel followed, and in 1995, Hash began a small bridal business. Five years later, she connected with Phillippe Elkoubi, now her businesspartner, and launched a signature collection of handmade and ready-to-wear pieces, inspired by her whimsical muse: 14-year-old Parisian, Lou Liza Lesage. In 2001, Anne Valerie Hash presented her first ready-to-wear collection on the Paris couture circuit, where she continues to show. Her quirky, deconstructed looks – a dress crafted out of tailored men’s trousers, in particular – generated considerable buzz. But instead of pushing for megabrand status, Hash has kept her operation relatively small scale. Still, her masculine-feminin a esthetic – that’s gonemore girlies as of late – has cultivated a loyal following globally. Andin spring 2007, Bergdorf Goodman was the first to snyp up Hash’s new handbag line of buttery soft satchels trimmed with teminine trills.

- VIENNA
Christine Berger [Vienna]
Christina Berger is the very tongue-in-cheek
representative of Vienna’s up-and-coming young
generation of fashion designers. Her clothes are
as extravagant as her collection titles are daring.
With some amusement we remember the title she
chose for fall, which is YOU DID A GREAT BLOW
JOB, BRIGITTE! YOURS FREDL M - allegedly referring
to Brigitte Nielsen and Freddy Mercury as outstanding
inspirations.Well well well… Now Christina has
come up with something new, something exciting,
something never heard of before (uhm…). Starting
on September 17 and until Sept. 25 she will tour
the fashion capitals of Europe with her spring
2013 collection, the overall motto is White Vest
in Wild West. If that’s not something, then we
don’t know.
Chef Werner Pichmaier
ANNA SACHER Restaurant [Vienna] 2
Michelin Stars
Following extensive renovation work
the Anna Sacher restaurant is now radiant in bright
green pleasantly offset by black furniture with
golden highlights. This interior design merely
serves to underscore the splendour of the paintings
by Anton Faistauer hanging in the restaurant and
the priceless Lobmeyr crystal chandeliers. This
interior contrasts starkly with the straight,
unpretentious line taken by Sacher's chef de cuisine
Werner Pichmaier in his contemporary, light interpretation
of traditional Austrian cuisine. It goes without
saying that he uses high-quality regional products
for all his basic ingredients.
Florian Wagner [Vienna]
Already as a boy, Berlin-born Florian
Wagner became acquainted with the world of colours
and art through his father, owner of the famous
“Studio for Mosaic and Glass-art August Wagner”.
Later, his mother Prof. Jucunda Wagner indroduces
him to the craft of enamelling and goldsmithing
and in 1969 Florian Wagner obtains his Journeyman‘s
certificate in Berlin. He then leaves Europe and
heads for Johannesburg South Africa where he lives
and works until 1973. It is there, where he becomes
so captivated by the prevalence and variety of
minerals and gemstones that to this day, his work
is still influenced by the experience. In 1973
he arrives in Vienna and enrols at the Academy
of applied Art where he takes up miniature sculpturing
and medal-art, he then goes on and opens the Gallery
“Mana” which until 1989 remains one of Vienna’s
important showcases of contemporary art.
Hans Hollein [Vienna]
Hans Hollein was professor for Architecture
at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf 1967 - 1976,
he was professor for Design from 1976 to 1986
and professor for Architecture from 1976 until
2002 at the University of Applied Art in Vienna
where he also acted as Dean of the Architecture
Department from 1995 to 1999. He was guest professor
at the University of California, Los Angeles,
at the Yale University in New Haven and at the
Ohio State University in Columbus.
Bossendorfer Pianos- Ferdinand Brau
People from all parts of the world
love Vienna for its beauty, its flair and its
central position in European culture. Many famous
musicians and composers, such as Rubinstein, Brahms,
Bartok, Grieg, Mahler, Strauss and many more have
lived or worked in Vienna; and all of them also
had some connection with Bösendorfer. The lively,
mutually inspiring exchange with the artists made
Bösendorfer a cherished symbol of Vienna's musical
tradition. What makes a Bösendorfer so special
is not magic: Each Bösendorfer grand piano is
the work of an entire year - and the know-how
that has been passed on from generation to generation
since 1828, starting with Ignaz Bösendorfer.

Chef Horst Petermann
RICO's KUNSTSTUBEN [Zurich] 2 Michelin
Stars
Petermann is a master of innovative-classic
cuisine with Mediterranean infl uences. He has
never been content with just emulating the French
maitres, although he has long been their equivalent
– he and Philippe Rochat are the only Swiss chefs
to have been awarded the title of “Membre de la
Haute Cuisine de France”, which is usually reserved
for French chefs. Petermann’s creations have always
reflected his own style and an admirable level
of continuity – the ultimate prerequisite for
substance and a name that becomes programmatic,
like that of “Kunststuben”, the name of the restaurant
that Petermann and his wife Iris opened on the
shores of Lake Zürich almost 25 years ago and
that has become one of the most exclusive addresses
in Europe.
Sascha Moeri CARL BUCHERER
Carl F. Bucherer dates back to 1888,
where an ambitious young man, a pioneer, opened
up his first retail shop in Lucerne, selling watches
and jewelry. He was so successful that he decided
to start his own watch company, Bucherer Watches.
They did well through the 20th century but were
only sold in Bucherer stores. In 2001 the third
generation owner of Bucherer decided to go international,
changing the name of the brand from Bucherer to
Carl F. Bucherer to honor his grandfather. It’s
a brand with a huge tradition and history though
it is quite new from an international market standpoint.
Jean-David Cahn Greek, Roman and Egyptian
antiquities
Jean-David Cahn AG was founded in
1999 and continues a proud family tradition which
reaches back for almost 150 years. The first catalogues
of the Münzhandlung Cahn appeared in 1863 in Frankfurt
am Main. After Hitler ascended to power, the company
was forcefully arianised. The family emigrated
to Switzerland and refounded the company. It was
succeeded by Münzen und Medaillen in 1941. In
1988 Herbert A. Cahn, Honorary Professor of Numismatics
at the Universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg
im Breisgau, spun off the antiquities department
and founded H.A.C. Kunst der Antike. Following
Herbert A. Cahn’s retirement, the company was
dissolved in 1998. Subsequently, a new company,
Jean-David Cahn AG, was formed by his son. Jean-David
Cahn studied Classical Archaeology in Basle. In
1988 he worked for the Antikenmuseum Basle und
Sammlung Ludwig, whose collection of arms and
armour he published.

Marwan Nicolas Chatila [London]
Established in the Lebanon more than a century and a half ago, Chatila is rare among jewellery houses in that the name over its doors is still the name of the family that owns and runs it. George Chatila began the business as a silversmith in 1860, whereupon his probity and skill made it flourish. It is the third and fourth generations of the family – Nicholas Chatila and his three sons, Marwan, Edward and Carlos – who now continue in the founder’s footsteps. Nearly fifty years have passed since the firm relocated to Switzerland. The move brought with it an abundance of fresh ideas and new designs that have proven extremely popular with the Chatila clientele. Today, Chatila’s flagship showroom in Geneva, in the Rue du Rhône, is a trusted venue for the discerning client who seeks a rare item of nonpareil magnificence.

Mr. Baroni has long been established as a specialist in fine paintings and drawings by Old and Modern Masters. The gallery holds regular exhibitions, produces substantial catalogues that are fully researched and illustrated and participates in a number of International Art Fairs such as the Salon du Dessin and the Master Drawings Week in London and in New York. Alexandra Chaldecott, who worked in the Old Master Drawings Department at Sotheby's for more than a decade, contributes to the team. As part of the service offered by the gallery, Jean-Luc Baroni uses his extensive experience to advise clients on establishing, augmenting and maintaining their private collections.

Watches
Anne Sofie Madsen
With her 2009 final project from the Royal Danish
Academy of Fine Arts, she took the Danish fashion
press with storm and proved that Danish Design
has an international format. After opening the
Copenhagen Fashion Week with the SS12 collection
in 2011, Anne Sofie Madsen was selected ‘Once
to Watch’ by the Vauxhall Fashion Scout, which
led to a show of the AW 12/13 collection in London,
Milan, Kiev, and Saint Petersburg. Anne Sofie
Madsen now presents her SS 2013 collection at
Copenhagen Fashion Week in August. The collection
combines Anne Sofie Madsen's couture look with
a commercial approach, which sees both made-to-order
and ready-to-wear styles, reflecting the designer's
time at the Parisian trend forecaster Peclers
and since at the House of John Galliano. Before
graduating, Anne Sofie Madsen was appointed Junior
Designer at the House of Alexander McQueen in
London. Anne Sofie Madsen's sense of esthetics
departs from the traditional, Danish design and
her unique sartorial skills marks the meeting
between airy materials and somber, avant-garde
applications. All in all the collection is of
international format and once again cements Copenhagen's
position as the most inspiring fashion metropolis
of the North.
Mikkel & Mads Kornerup[Copenhagen, Denmark]
Shamballa Jewels have come up with a wonderfully
imaginative and thoughtful design, inspired by
the Buddhist prayer flags that dance in the wind
above the Himalayas. Shamaballa Jewels have proved
a roaring success and have found themselves planted
on the wrists of an assortment of A-list celebrities
since their launch in 2001. Gywneth Paltrow, Jay-Z
and the amazing Diane Von Furstenburg are all
big fans, and so am I! Danish brothers, Mads and
Mikkel Kornerup, are responsible for giving us
the irresistible Shamballa bracelet and a taste
of the champagne lifestyle. However, the inspiration
behind the creation of the jewels is one of spirituality
and mythical concepts. Imagination fashioned into
design; always worthy of a few extra noughts at
the end of the price tag! Travelling across the
world at the young age of 19, Mads Kornerup became
fascinated with the brilliant world of Buddhism.
The jewels, the yoga, the meditation became an
inspiration that would one day create the fine
jewellery of Shamballa..

Dansk Møbelkunst gallery specializes in 20th Century

authority in Danish historical design from 1920–1970,
with particular emphasis on rare modernist furniture
and lighting. Dansk Møbelkunst Gallery specializes
in rare, original works of Danish furniture that
were created during 1920-70, when a circle of
craftsmen, architects and designers erased the
distinction between works of art and functional
equipment for everyday life.Established by Ole
Høstbo in 1992, Dansk Møbelkunst takes its’ name
from the Danish word for Furniture Art, a term
that is rooted in the handicraft tradition and
signifies a synthesis of aesthetics, utility and
craftsmanship. During the twentieth century, møbelkunst
evolved from the reproduction of historical styles
to the creation of truly modern furniture that
relied on beautiful materials, rather than applied
decoration, and finely-crafted details for its’
aesthetic value. The gallery’s expertise encompasses
both handcrafted masterpieces and iconic works
of industrial design. ."

Ep24 LONDON John Rocha [Fashion], Chef Phil Howards's
SQUARE, Colnaghi Gallery, Greubel Forsey watches,
Haughton's Porcelain
.
John Rocha [UK]
[London] Born in Hong Kong and of Chinese and Portuguese descent, John Rocha moved to London in the 1970's to study fashion. He eventually moved to Dublin in the 1980's where he has lived for the past twenty-two years, working closely with his wife and business partner Odette. The opening of the Morrison Hotel in 1999 confirmed John Rocha's successful involvement in the first of a number of architectural projects. Working with interior design and structural architecture, office and residential projects have been completed in Dublin and Liverpool. In July 2002, John Rocha's contemporary range of organically inspired jewellery was launched.
Phil Howard
A chef’s chef, Howard is rarely away from the stove and has won numerous accolades including two Michelin stars (awarded in 1998) & the BMW Square Meal Restaurant of the Year 2008. Afterstudying bio-chemistry at university, he signed up for an apprenticeship at Roux Restaurants before working with such heavyweights as Simon Hopkinson and Marco Pierre White. Known for his classy, but seasonal French food, he has spent much of his career nurturing young chefs and enjoys showcasing his protégé Brett Graham at his other restaurant, The Ledbury in Notting Hill
COLNAGHI Jeremy Howard
If Paul Colnaghi had emigrated to America in 1783, as Benjamin Franklin advised him to do, London would be without one of its oldest and most celebrated Galleries. Instead, Colnaghi went to work for Anthony Torre, whose father had established businesses in Paris and London. Anthony Torre's London premises enjoyed a reputation for stocking the finest wares of celebrated engravers. When Paul Colnaghi joined him in 1783, they soon moved to a superior address at 132 Pall Mall, and by 1788 the younger Colnaghi had taken control of the business. Paul Colnaghi was to raise the small business to a status unsurpassed in the art-dealing world. There were difficulties in the beginning; as a result of the French Revolution and the ensuing disorders, trade with the Continent suffered. Colnaghi, however, managed to weather the storm by a series of adroit moves. During 1792-1797, he published what is probably the most famous series of English stipple engravings, The Cries of London. At the same time he began to issue engravings of military, naval and patriotic heroes. For instance, on November 7, 1803, when news of Nelson's victory and death at Trafalgar reached London, Colnaghi had already commissioned a portrait engraving. Paul Colnaghi's connections with Europe, his knowledge of languages, and his integrity in business were all of great help to him during this turbulent period. He was able to supply the Government with views of beleaguered towns on the Continent, thus providing information for the besieging armies which would otherwise have been lacking.
Stephen Forsey
With the launching of their first Invention the Double Tourbillon 30° in 2004, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey, French and English Inventor Watchmakers marvelled knowledgeable watch devotees with a new Tourbillon mechanism adapted specifically for the wristwatch. Only a handful of timepieces leave the atelier each month due to the sophisticated movement and exquisite finishing. The Inventor Watchmakers are committed to pure technical innovation and are dedicated to inventing new movements that have never existed in watchmaking history.

Ep26 VIENNA Klaus Muelbauer's Hats, Kockert's Jewels,
Augarten Porcelain, Belle Etage's Furniture, Dejana
Kabiljo's mind
Klaus Muelbaer
[Vienna]
In 1903 Julianna
Mühlbauer laid the foundation stone of the now
over 100 year old family business. She opened
a small millinery with shop attached in the Viennese
suburb of Floridsdorf with her husband Robert.
Koechert
The foundation
of Köchert jewellers goes back to the year 1814.
Already in 1831, the company was awarded the title
"Purveyors to the Imperial and Royal Court", and
in 1868 Alexander Emanuel Köchert was appointed
as Chamber Jeweller. As the personal jeweller
of the emperor, he thus become the royal treasurer.
Since then, it has been part of the Köchert tradition
that the house at Neuer Markt is a meeting point
for well-known artists who create unique gems
together with the master goldsmiths of the firm's
own workshops. Today, Christoph, Wolfgang and
Florian Köchert continue this tradition. The headquarters
of A. E. Köchert Jewellers have been at Neuer
Markt 15 since 1873; in December 2005, another
shop was opened at the noble Altenmarkt 15 in
Salzburg.
Augarten [Vienna]
Augarten porcelain
is world-famous for its delicate and graceful
shape, its clean lines and exquisite details.
Combining sophisticated craftsmanship, artistic
design and the latest technical equipment, Augarten
uniquely blends time-honoured tradition with a
contemporary approach to art. The finest porcelain
is still produced and painted by hand in our manufactory
at Augarten castle just as it has always been.
Located at the geographical crossroads of European
cultures and as one of the oldest European names
in porcelain, Augarten Wien has symbolised the
continuity of timeless Viennese tradition, art
and culture for almost 300 years now."
Dejana Kabiljo
[Vienna]
The multidisciplinary
artist and designer Dejana Kabiljo currently lives
and works in Vienna. After graduating in architecture
at the University of Belgrade and receiving a
Master Degree in design from the Domus Academy
in Milan, she took up the post of Art Director
at the Vienna Museum of Technology. Two years
later, she started her own professional practice
for design and architecture and was lecturer at
the University of applied Arts in Vienna. She
launched her own design brand Kabiljo Inc and
had the chance to showcase her first collection
in exhibitions at the MAK in Vienna. Kabiljo had
personal exhibitions all over the world, amongst
others in Tokyo, London, Milan, Vienna, of which,
the humorous PRETTYPRETTY collection, which consists
of hairy bar stools, poufs and chairs, was perticularly
successful..
Wolfgang Bauer
[Vienna]
For over 30
years, the Viennese Wolfgang Bauer has been offering
an exceptionally wide-ranging selection of first-class
Viennese Jugendstil furniture and art objects
in his gallery, "bel etage", located in the centre
of Vienna, within sight of the opera. Interiors
and objets d'art by the most famous architects
and designers of the turn of the 19th to the 20th
centuries, such as Adolf Loos and Otto Wagner
(along with their students), as well as Josef
Hoffmann and Kolo Moser - the best known artists
of the WIENER WERKSTÄTTE - are presented on two
floors. The range is rounded off with paintings
and sculptures by top-class painters and sculptors
of the early twentieth century. With great enterprise
and a fine nose, the gallery owner succeeds time
and again in tracking down and documenting works
by the best-known artists of this important period,
which has been gaining increasing international
recognition over the past few years.

Ep27 ATHENS - Celebrity Skin Fashion, Maria Lalaounis Jewels, Miltos , Dimitri Korres
No.4 Supercar, MED
Celebrity Skin
Celebrity Skin are a dynamic, avant garde designer duo. Head designer Dimitris Strepkos and his assistant Eleni Mparla showed their first collection in April 2009. Tim Burton's Impossible Nightmare collection won 2 awards. Best Designer - Best Catwalk
ILIAS LALAOUNIS Maria Lalaounis
4,000 year old tradition of Greek art is kept alive. Age old techniques such as granulation, filigree and hand hammering are used along side modern techniques, to create jewelry inspired by ancient civilizations.
Miltos
Born in Athens, Miltos' first contact with fashion was as a production and sales manager in a well-known company with silk garments. His experience in raw materials together with his love for high quality resulted in starting up his own studio, while studying fashion at Veloudakis Fashion School. Feminine lines, all time classic elegance, fresh style with high class, would be a close description to his work. Miltos currently works at his studio in Kolonaki, where he creates pret-a-porter and haute couture collections, as well as unique bridals."
Dimitris Korres - Korres No.4
Maybe it's because the Korres' engine is the same 7.0-liter V8 out of a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, but I definitely get the sense designer Dimitris Korres – a Greek architect who thinks his country should have a supercar – here was channeling something like a C3 'Vette. It's not exactly modern-looking, but I guess it's classically aggressive

Ep28 BERLIN - Arrey Kono's Fashion, Die Quadriga's
Chef, Hemmerle's Jewels, Wiesmann's Sportscars,
Lederer's BLU watches.
Arrey
Kono [Berlin]
As an artist, Arrey Kono is a remarkable shooting star and
has an excellent reputation in the international
world of fashion. Her fashion is sold in more
than 35 countries worldwide. Her brand is a permanent
fixture at the KaDeWe in Berlin and the Oberpollinger
in Munich since October 2012. Her brand embodies
instinct and passion, her fashion is artful, young
and sexy.
Sauli Kemppainen "Die Quadragie" *[Berlin]
The culinary mastermind at Quadriga at Hotel Brandenburger
Hof is Michelin-starred chef Sauli Kemppainen,
who remains true to his Finnish origins despite
a life of travel. Kemppainen is one of the main
exponents of new Nordic cuisine. The interior
of Die Quadriga is just as appealing as the food
itself: A Biedermeier secretary, Frank Lloyd Wright's
cherrywood chairs, designed in 1904, which correspond
perfectly with the cherrywood panels on the walls,
which are decorated mainly by works of artist
of the Berliner Sezession provided by Seidel &
Sohn, an art dealer established 1905; the artworks
are for sale. The tableware is KPM porcelain,
the silver from Robbe & Berking, the flowers throughout
the hotel by an Ikebana master. Incidentally,
Die Quadriga is named after the four horses who
pull the goddess of victory, a sculpture by Schadow
from 1794 on top of the Brandenburg Gate.
Hemmerle
Christian Hemmerle In today's world where craftsmanship,
individuality and authenticity are increasingly
rare, Hemmerle is one of the last pillars protecting
a unique family heritage of superior craftsmanship.
The tradition was established in the 19th Century
when the brothers Joseph and Anton Hemmerle were
appointed by the Bavarian Court as purveyors of
Medals and ornaments. In 1904 Hemmerle opened
its doors on the Maximilian Strasse offering traditional
designed jewellery of exceptional quality. 1971
bore witness to the re-invention of the Hemmerle
brand under the direction of Joseph's grandson
Stefan, a visionary with a sculpture's eye. Today
the house remains a fourth generation family business
with Stefan at the helm his wife, Sylveli, his
son Christian and daughter-in-law Yasmin by his
side. The entire family is involved with each
intricate design and is immersed in every detail
to give a unique stamp of personality to every
piece that leaves the Hemmerle atelier.
Friedhelm Wiesmann KG
LIVE YOUR DREAMS In 1993 the first series-produced Wiesmann-Roadster
saw the light of day. In 2007 Wiesmann develops
and manufactures two Roadster models: the MF 30
(231 PS) and the MF 3 (343 PS) EXEPTIONALLY OUT
OF THE ORDINARY The success of our concept to
create a synthesis of classic design and ultramodern
technology has encouraged us to develop a new
small series model, the Wiesmann GT (BMW-V8 engine,
367 PS)
Bernhard Lederer
The Blu-Planet, one of the first orbiting timepiece collection,
has found its prestigious expression. This original
platinum/white-gold jewellery watch was crafted
by Bernhard Lederer, the horological creator behind
Blu, the Swiss watchbrand that explores new ways
of expressing time with advanced mechanical solutions.

Laurent & Julien LeCamp
Cyrus is forging its own path by the founding cousins Laurent and Julien Lecamp. In 2010, they jointly launched this contemporary brand that is nonetheless rooted in Antiquity. In doing so, they opted to develop modern timepieces inspired by the traditional principles of Swiss watchmaking. They created models bearing a powerful aesthetic signature yet concealing a number of secrets visible only to the eye of their owner. Finally, the brand initially presented its most affordable and most high-end models, before inserting an intermediate collection between these two echelons.
SWAROVSKI - Nathalie Colin Roblique
Nathalie Colin Roblique, Swarovski's Creative Director said, "A study in asymmetry, a search for slightly savage effects, and a desire for irregularity that satisfies a need for authenticity and truth... I wanted to create versatile and nomadic jewellery that never stops moving. "Alive and sensual," she added, "these jewels can be rolled up or draped. Their fringes echo human gestures and move with the body. Some jewels appear to be abstract sculptures - somewhere between jewellery and art objects - but they are neither narrative nor realistic." The slideshow gives you a glimpse of this fantastic show. To see details of the collection, immerse yourself into the Soul of Time and enjoy the ultimate experience.

Ep30 LONDON - Jasper Conran's Fashion, Michel Roux's
Gavroche, Weiss Portrait Gallery, Peter Speake-Marin's
watches, Rupert Wace's Antiquities
Jasper Conran [London]
The son of design guru Sir Terence Conran, Jasper Conran was literally born (1960) to the world of design. At 19, when he produced his first collection, it did not really surprise anyone. Of course, at that time, he already has a degree in Design from Parsons School of Design (1977) and had already worked at Fiorucci (New York) and Wallis (London). The British Design Council has called him a "classicist" and had awarded him the much coveted British Designer of the Year Award in 1986. He also designs contemporary crystals for Stuart. For his work at Stuart Crystals, Jasper Conran quoted: "When Stuart invited me to collaborate on a collection of contemporary crystal, I approached it in the same way I approach designing clothes - use the best materials and keep it simple."
LE GAVROCHE - London Michel Roux [2 Michelin Stars]
The Master's Master.
The brother's Roux have single-handedly been the breeding ground for all the top 2-3 star Michelin Chefs in the UK. Their students include Marco-Pierre White, Phil Howard, Gordon Ramsay....the list goes on and on...
Mark Weiss
The Weiss Gallery is the leading dealer in Tudor, Stuart and North European Old Master portraiture, and it is a pleasure to welcome you to our website where you will find an unequalled selection of historical portraits for sale. We would also encourage you to visit our splendid gallery, which is located at 59 Jermyn Street, in the heart of prestigious St James’s. Over the past decades, The Weiss Gallery has made many notable sales , which now grace distinguished private and public painting collections around the world. One of the gallery’s main strengths is its dedication to research. Indeed the many catalogues that we have produced over the years have become essential reading for scholars and collectors alike.
SPEAKE-MARIN
Peter Speake-Marin
The inspiration and knowledge gleaned from working in restoration of historic treasures fired his desire to work and further his knowledge of watchmaking to an even higher level. Returning to Switzerland in 1996 to work on modern watches he specialised in complications both building them and in their development. In 2000, after 15 years of study he embarked on his personal dream; an independent workshop in which he could design and build his own
watches.
Rupert Wace [UK] Antiquities
Rupert Wace has been dealing in Antiquities for over 30 years. The gallery specialises in Egyptian, Classical, Near Eastern and European works of art from Prehistoric times up until the end of the first millenium A.D. VIENNA
Claudia
Rosa Lukas - Vienna
Lukas
studied under the legendary Viennese designer
Helmut Lang when he taught at Vienna's University
of Applied Arts and he set her on the minimalist
path. "He made his students do a lot of research
to discover the essentials of a garment," says
Lukas. "He made us think about every seam you
need and don't need and how to construct modern
basics." Lukas says she has been interested in
fashion for as far back as she can remember. I
was into faces and hands first and finally the
covered female body. I began by redesigning old
clothes." She doesn't like themes or collections
with names. "Why bother with unwanted associations?"
She asks, describing her style as "a quiet revolution
in this fuss-driven fashion world.""
Chef
Gerald Angelmahr
Restaurant
KORSO [Vienna] 2 Michelin Stars Angelmahr's new
concept is just as interesting as the exciting
contrast between the Korso's historic dining room
and its illuminated onyx wall. In line with his
casual style, Angelmahr combines traditional dishes
with creative innovations. Born in 1981 in Schwechat
near Vienna, Gerald Angelmahr spent his apprentice
years at the famous Hotel Imperial in Vienna.
Between 2003 and 2005 he assisted in the opening
of the Hotel Le Méridien Vienna as Chef de Partie.
Following successful steps in his career at award-winning
Restaurant Meinl am Graben and design hotel Aenea
in Reifnitz at Lake Wörthersee, Carinthia, Angelmahr
returned to the Hotel Imperial in 2007. As Sous
Chef he pampered state visitors and crowned heads
as well as the guests of award-winning Restaurant
Imperial with his culinary creations. The 27-year-old
newcomer was the winner of "The Young Wild Cooks"
competition in 2007 and underwent practical training
with star chef Ferran Adrià."
Fritz
Maierhofer [Vienna]
In
1967 I was employed by Andrew Grima in London
as a goldsmith and ended up staying in England
for three years. In 1969 I was put in charge of
the ornamental watch collection for Omega at Andrew
Grima. Subsequently, I started to get interested
in working with contemporary jewellery. I was
mainly influenced by Stella Liechtenstein, Jim
Dine and Trova, but also by the many colours of
London, which contrasted with the greyness of
daily life in Vienna. The relationship between
an item of jewellery and the wearer is intense,
which means that it is worn both consciously and
with emotion at the right moment. I would like
to make the following comments regarding my own
work: just as letters are symbols which are joined
together to form sounds and finally, in their
entirety, form language which is communicated
to others, I interpret my jewellery objects as
signs of an inner order which I, myself, have
created and which I attempt to impart to others
as well.
Lobmeyer - Andreas Rath
Lobmeyr
is working steadily on a contemporary interpretation
of glass, always in the awareness of the own tradition.
The interest in glass, practiced in our daily
work, and the dialogue with our artisans, designers
and customers have time and again led to innovations.
In 1835, Josef Lobmeyr equipped the table of the
imperial court with the "prism cut drinking set"
and received the title of a "Purveyor to the Imperial
and Royal Court". The plain drinking set No. 4
by Ludwig Lobmeyr from 1856 can be found in many
current design bibles. With the drinking set from
1905, Stefan Rath revisited the Viennese Baroque.
The muslin drinking glass set by Josef Hoffmann
was created together with designers of the Vienna
Workshop. In 1929, the drinking set No. 248 by
Adolf Loos anticipated the shape of a plain chalice
that is valid to this day. "Ambassador" and the
spherical boxes by Oswald Härdtle received the
Grand Prix of the International Jury at the "Art
Deco" exhibition in Paris in 1925. In 2007, Ted
Muehling subtly combined style elements of different
epochs in his chalice set.
Walking
Chair Fidel Peugeot & Karl Emilio Pircher [Vienna]
Fidel
Peugeot, born Sebastian Rudolf Baumgartner in
Basel, Switzerland began studying communications-design
with Prof Armin Hofmann, Wolfgang Weingart & Rene
Pulver at the University for Design in Basel.
During his studies he has already been working
as a graphic designer at the renowned agencies
GGK, WeberHodelSchmid and Stalder&Suter and toured
in a couple of bands as a musician. Next to the
written word he also cultivated the spoken: together
with Karl Rottweiler he founded the Swiss label&station
Radio Glaibasel (RGB107,6) in the 80ties. After
stopovers in New York and Paris he finally came
to Vienna in 1991. Here he developed the first
digitized handwritings, moreover a whole dynasty
of pixelfonts for online purposes, the Lomofonts,
the “Spruce” and the “Line” for Tyler Brulée and
the Wallpaper Group amongst others. Since 2002
Fidel Peugeot has been Linotype font-designer.
Additionally Peugeot works in all fields of graphic
design, e.g. as illustrator, or as logo designer,
like for the Albertina, Vienna. 1999 Fidel Peugeot
met the Italian product-designer Karl Emilio Pircher.
An immediate mutual understanding led to the establishment
of the Walking-Chair Design Studio GmbH in the
heart of Vienna.

Fatima Lopez [Lisbon]
Fátima comes from the Portuguese island of Madeira. She was born and grew up in its capital city, Funchal. Since an early age she showed an interest in fashion and during her adolescence, unhappy with what the shops had to offer in terms of clothing, started to design her own clothes. Being fluent in English, French and German, she worked as a tourist guide for a local travel agency. In 1990 Fátima moved to Lisbon, where she believed she could better pursue a career as a fashion designer. With a friend she opened a boutique named "Versos", which sold mainly clothes from international designers. In 1992 the boutique changed its name to "Fátima Lopes" and in that year the Fátima Lopes brand was born. In September of the same year, she participated in a fashion show made in an old convent in Lisbon (Convento do Beato), where her work was widely applauded. In 1994 she exhibited her collection in Paris at the "Salon du Prêt-à-Porter Feminin". Two years later she opened her first international store in Paris, located in the famous rue de Grenelle. At the same time she began to diversify her collections by creating bags and shoes for both men and women.
KUGEL
Nicolas and Alexis Kugel are the fifth generation of antiques dealers, their company having been founded in Russia by their great-great-grandfather Elie Kugel. At the end of the 18th century, Elie was a collector of clocks and watches and persuaded his son Joseph to become a clock repairer and he subsequently went on to deal in both clocks and antique silver and jewellery. His grandson Matias, Nicolas’ and Alexis’ grandfather, was also an antiques dealer in Minsk and St Petersburg. Their father Jacques, who was born in Russia in 1912, emigrated to Paris in 1924 and established his business first on the rue Amélie and then on the rue de la Paix after the war, specialising in silver and gold boxes. Jacques expanded the business to deal in fine furniture, works of art and sculpture. Jacques Kugel opened the highly prestigious gallery at 279 rue Saint-Honoré in 1970, building his reputation and acquiring important clients from around the world. Nicolas and Alexis Kugel took over the gallery when Jacques died in 1985 and have continued the family tradition of sourcing the finest antiques and works of art to be found anywhere. Since 2004, Nicolas and Alexis Kugel have moved to Hôtel Collot, 25 quai Anatole France, built in 1840 by the distinguished architect Louis Visconti (1791-1853) for Jean-Pierre Collot (1764-1852), director of La Monnaie (the French Mint). Numerous highly important sales have been achieved over the years, notably in 1994 the prestigious collection of 16th century Limoges enamels from the collection of Hubert de Givenchy, the finest in private hands, and the remarkable Armoire au char d’Appolon by André-Charles Boulle, also from the celebrated designer’s collection. An early 16th century mother-of-pearl silver-gilt mounted casket, made by François I’s goldsmith Pierre Mangot, allegedly the greatest surviving example from the French Renaissance, sold to the Musée du Louvre in 2000 for an undisclosed sum but was said to be the most expensive object ever acquired by this museum. More recently, a double headed bronze conceived by Primaticcio, from the collection of Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, made for the King François Ier for his Château of Fontainebleau, was sold to the J. Paul Getty Museum.

English
Edward Meadham and French born Benjamin Kirchhoff
graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2002.
The pair launched their womenswear collection,
Meadham Kirchhoff, as part of Fashion East in
February 2006. The pair have since won further
shows with the scheme and have more recently been
awarded catwalk sponsorship as part of NEWGEN
scheme for the last 2 seasons. Defining their
aesthetic incorporates a classic take on both
bourgeois garments and hard street cultures. The
continuous ongoing struggle between dark and light
develops the label’s signature use of toughness
against fluidity. The woman for whom they design
is uncompromising, nonchalantly elegant, intelligent
and melancholic.

the battle of Waterloo. The founder, James Purdey,
had previously worked as head stocker for Joseph
Manton, the foremost gunmaker of his time. Purdey
set up his gun making business in Princes Street

of Greek art is kept alive. Age old techniques
such as granulation, filigree and hand hammering
are used along side modern techniques, to create
jewelry inspired by ancient civilizations.
Sophia
Vari Botero Born in 1940 in Vari near Athens.
Lives and works in Paris and Pietrasanta in Italy
Figurative at her beginnings as sculptress in
1975, Sophia Vari gradually finds an intense plentitude
in freeing herself from the subject in order to
measure herself against Time and Space. She discovers
with passion the structure of the planes, the
monumental. Her forms becom tangled, gather themselves,
soar skywards, kink, unfold in extension, merge
in ease. As Greek, she refuses what is approximate
and her sense of perfection leads her to a rigour
in her studies and search (her numerous journeys
incite her to). Though abstract, her sculptures
keep from her original land a certain classicism.

Senderens, Michel Bernardaud's porcelain, Downtown's

artists in Paris.
Gaspard Yurkievich [Paris]
[Paris] Known for his wild and outlandish catwalk presentations, French designer Gaspard Yurkievich is also fast becoming the designer of choice by fashion forward young men and women who like wearing street and urban clothes with a Parisian touch. A native of Paris, (born May 16, 1972), Gaspard Yurkievich studied at the Studio Bercot from 1991-93; wherein after graduation, he trained under Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Jean Collona. To hone his skills, the Paris native entered several competitions, one of them the 12th International Festival of Art and Fashion at the Hyeres (May 1997), wherein he won for the women’s collection as well as the 3 Suisse Prize. The next year (1998), Yurkievich won the ANDAM competition.

The "Master of Masters". Alain Ducasse was his protege. Great modern Chefs like Carlo Cracco, Christian Delouvrier and a long list of others have found their epiphany at this Parisien Temple of Gastronomy.
BERNARDAUD Michael Bernardaud
The story of French porcelain begins in 1768 when a woman from the village of Saint-Yrieix La Perche near Limoges discovers a soft, white clay that she uses to bleach her household linens. Experts would identify this substance as kaolin: the crucial, long sought after ingredient that is responsible for the resiliency, durability and flawless iridescent translucency of fine porcelain. The search for this “secret ingredient” had lasted four centuries since Marco Polo’s discovery of Chinese porcelain. The discovery of kaolin in France marked the birth of industrial and cultural significance of Limoges porcelain. Against this historical backdrop two enterprising industrialists, noticing an increase in consumer use of porcelain dinner services, open a factory in Limoges in 1863. The construction of railroad lines in the area offered means of distribution of their product to more markets. A workshop apprentice named Léonard Bernardaud distinguished himself among the workers. Twenty years later, he would be promoted to head of sales and later named partner. Léonard Bernardaud acquired the company in 1900 and gave it his name. He increased production capacity of the factory and opened up new markets, notably in the United States. Leonard was succeeded by his sons, Jacques and Michel Bernardaud. The brothers would assure the viability of the company during the turbulence of the Great Depression and World War II through collaborations with artists to expand the company's range of collections. In 1949, they boldly introduced the first gas-fueled tunnel kiln in France that operated 24 hours a day. This “green initiative” ensured constant firing temperatures that yielded sturdier pieces in greater quantity with fewer defects. As a result, industrial scale production was achieved without compromise to the high standards of craftsmanship based on artisan techniques for which the company is known.
Francois Laffanour DOWNTOWN
For more than thirty years, FrançoisLaffanour has been recognized as one of the very earliest visionary champions of Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé and Le Corbusier. At a very early stage, his intuition steered him towards Ron Arad, to whom his gallery has already dedicated two solo shows, in 2005 and then in 2008. In tandem, he collaborated on his public exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in 2008, as well as at the MoMA in 2009."
Kálmán Makláry Fine Arts (Budapest)
The Kálmán Makláry Fine Arts gallery is dedicated to the artists of the Post-War School of Paris. Especially the Abstract and Surrealist movements with artists like Judit Reigl, Simon Hantai, François Fiedler, Alfred Reth, Arpad Szenes, Endre Rozsda and Victor Vasarely. Through it’s exhibitions outside the Budapest based gallery and it’s publications of books and catalogs, it has worked towards reviving unquestionably important artists, some of whom the last decades had unfortunately forgotten. The gallery works with museums and art collectors and develops with them long-term relationships of trust. Today, some of the gallery’s artists have already rightfully found their place in the major modern art museums around the world. It also handles and represents works by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Paul Kallos, Geza Szobel, Etienne Sandorfi, Tibor Csernus, Andre Balint and Kamill Major.

The principle activity is womenswear fashion, but Eley Kishimoto has already worked with partners to offer footwear, hosiery, sunglasses, leather belts, and various 'flash' collaborations, under the umbrella of womenswear mainline.
Anton Mosimann - London
Japan was a tremendous experience for me. The Japanese style of cooking was all about freshness, the way it is cooked, or not cooked at all. Even the presentation was an eye opener for all of us, but especially for me. I absorbed a lot of the techniques and ideas from the Japanese culture and start thinking 'This is the way of eating and I like it, no cream no butter'. In St. Moritz I worked at the famous Palace Hotel with the head chef Monsieur de France. De France trained in London at the Savoy hotel with Escoffier. Escoffier was the head chef and de France was the commis. He was 85 years of age and it was an incredible experience for me.
Faberge Sean Gilbertson
The story of Fabergé is inextricably linked to the lives, loves and tragedy of the last Romanov Tsar Nicholas II and his Empress Alexandra, and to the Russian Revolution that changed the course of world history. Of Huguenot origin, with a febrile imagination, protean talent and entrepreneurial instincts, Peter Carl Fabergé became jeweller and goldsmith to the great Russian Imperial Court, creating exquisite jewels and objects, including the legendary series of lavish and ingenious Imperial Easter Eggs. His worldwide reputation attracted royalty, nobility, tycoons, industrialists and the artistic intelligentsia of Paris, Moscow, St Petersburg and London. In 1917, the Russian Revolution brought a violent end not only to the Romanov dynasty but also to the House of Fabergé. The Bolsheviks seized the Fabergé workshops and their treasures, all production was closed down and Peter Carl Fabergé and his family fled from Russia. In a legal settlement in 1951, the Fabergé family lost the right to produce and market designs under the Fabergé name. Yet, through decades of the 20th century, the noble Fabergé name, separated from the family despite their attempts to honour and perpetuate their legacy, showed an extraordinary resilience. Throughout, the legend has retained its mystique, charisma and awe-inspiring romance, along with a certain enigma tied to the mystery of the whereabouts of many iconic Fabergé works of art. History came full circle in October 2007 when Fabergé, under new ownership and direction, announced the reunification of the Fabergé name with the Fabergé family. This opened a new chapter in the intriguing story of Fabergé, and set the stage for a total revitalisation of the Fabergé name and philosophy, in tune with its original values, aesthetics and spirit. Fabergé was re-launched on the 9th September, 2009, with three Les Fabuleuses de Fabergé High Jewellery Collections - Les Fleurs, Les Fables and Les Fauves de Fabergé. Today, with Katharina Flohr as Creative and Managing Director, and her in-house creative team, Fabergé is forging a fresh yet strong identity. Paying homage to Peter Carl Fabergé’s genius as a visionary artist-jeweller, and benefiting from the expertise and guidance of Tatiana and Sarah Fabergé, his great-grand-daughters, contemporary Fabergé collections are imbued with poetry, artistry and refined ideals of beauty made possible by unrivalled craftsmanship, innovation and ingenuity, all underlined with a strong emotional engagement. Distinguished by Fabergé’s dedication to excellence and pursuit of perfection, the jewels are both linked to Fabergé’s world, yet of the moment and relevant today, demonstrating the modernity that Peter Carl Fabergé was always able to bring to his own eclectic cultural and stylistic references.

Mayor's Warhols, in John Lobbs shoes.
Betty Jackson [London] Born in
Lancashire (1949), Betty Jackson started her fashion
career as a fashion illustrator during her senior
year (1971) at the Birmingham College of Art.
She did that for three years, and then she moved
on to get her "hands-on experience" as a design
assistant. In 1981, ten years after graduation,
she struck on her own, and founded Betty Jackson
Ltd. Described by the British Fashion Council
as a "directional classicist" Betty Jackson's
style of dressing is based on comfort and relaxed
style. Leaning heavily on unstructured separates
and daywear, Betty Jackson's creations are usually
soft and feminine. She usually gets her inspirations
from colors and patterns, imagining it being worn
by a woman, and then designs around that palette.
Easy, contemporary and liberated clothes are the
adjectives that describe Betty Jackson's work.
"My work is understated and easy. I do not like
formal dressing and I always try to achieve a
relaxed and casual look. The mix of texture and
pattern is very important and we work with many
textile designers to have specialness and exclusivity
on fabrics. Unexpected fabrics are often used
in simple, classic shapes."

I left Sotheby's and started dealing on my own
account almost 40 years ago. During this time
the supply of European arms and armour has dramatically
diminished, but still I have managed to assemble
some exceptional pieces! This has only been made
possible by much hard work, combined with the
support of enthusiastic friends and clients, who
believe it is important that a healthy market
place is maintained in our specialist field.
JOHN LOBB The current Lobb premises

by Lord Byron's bachelor establishment. The firm
today proudly Lastmaker holds three Royal Warrants
to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Royal Highness
The Duke of Edinburgh and His Royal Highness The

Ep43 PARIS - Peechoo Krejberg's Fashion, Celcius
Tourbillon Phone, Patrick Perrin's antiques, Maison
Parisienne's art objects.
Peachoo Krejbourg
Peachoo Datwani and Roy Krejberg, the Indian-Dutch
duo behind Peachoo + Krejberg, belong to the Belgian
wing of Paris fashion. They specialize in monochomes,
deconstruction, odd volumes, and, when glitz does
enter the picture, an organic sort of bling. With
its askew jackets, floppy asymmetric skirts, and
draped layers, fashion followers saw shades of
Ann Demeulemeester’s Spring 2009 collection in
the show they put on at the Musée de l’Homme yesterday,
their fourth at Paris fashion week.
Thomas Pruvot & Edouard MEYLAN
Is it a pocket-phone-watch or a watch cell phone?
It is above all a resolutely novel nomadic object
that pushes the boundaries of imagination. A flying
tourbillon more offset than any existing model
and powered by the patented "Remontage Papillon"
endows this nomadic object with an extraordinary,
fusional dimension
"Perrin Gallery Paris Founder Jacques Perrin
and his son Philippe specialize in exceptional
late 17th- to early 19th-century French furniture,
painting, sculpture and decorative objects, displayed
in a beautiful three-story mansion on the Place
Beauvau.
MAISON PARISIENNE
Jean-Marc Dimanche & Florence Guillier Bernard
There can be nothing exceptional without talent
and French craftsmen are unique in this respect,
combining culture and tradition, knowledge and
expertise. Beyond the manual skill, there is a
work of art; and beyond the work of art, there
are the men and women whose everyday life is steeped
in the outstanding art of rare objects and luxury
materials. Imagine a company without a catalogue,
a company that does not discuss products or ranges,
a company in which every item is unique because
it is made by the hand and heart of Man. maison
parisienne is that company, offering a collection
of rare objects created from the passion and expertise
of a handful of craftsmen who design and make
the most outstanding and most beautiful items
possible, each in his or her own craft form. maison
parisienne is that company, discovering and rediscovering
a French lifestyle, showing audacity and contemporary
design, working to pass it on and share it with
enthusiasts, the initiated, collectors of emotions
and lovers of the unusual and curious...
